Griffin, Clippers Not Ready for Spurs

It’s the second half, with the Clippers facing Game 7 tension on the road, and Chauncey Billups pulls some coaches to the side with advice.

Time to go with Kenyon Martin.

That meant it was also time to go without Blake Griffin. Vinny Del Negro might not have dared to bench his star, except that Griffin’s sore knee made for a handy excuse. With that, the Clippers got the veteran know-how they needed.

That’s one reason the Clippers are in San Antonio tonight. That’s also why they will lose this series in five games, if not four.

Griffin, healthy or not, isn’t ready for this yet.

He’s trying to get ready. He said Monday his left knee is getting better, and he announced he’ll play tonight. Before saying this, Griffin went through a post-practice drill that indicated he can still use both knees.
