Tiger Sparks Interest in Presidents Cup

Fred Couples has finished casting his 2011 U.S. Presidents Cup team, adding Bill Haas, who won last week, and Tiger Woods, who won last decade. There has been much criticism of his decision to pick Tiger over men who are actually playing in golf tournaments, and winning them, but Couples absolutely made the right call for our times.

Whether the leaders of the ultra-traditional, often stodgy game of golf want to admit it or not, their sport has just entered the reality TV era. On this new field of play, it's all about attracting eyeballs, and no one could possibly bring more people running to their televisions in mid-November to watch a relatively insignificant golf event in Australia than Tiger Woods.
