I heard the ominous drone from across the house and raced toward the family room, the noise growing louder -- the sound of a thousand angry bees. To my relief it was not an invading swarm but rather a World Cup match on the TV. The monotonous hum was from a stadium-full of vuvuzelas that are blown by South African soccer fans for the sole purpose of annoying American viewers.
With that constant buzzing as its soundtrack the World Cup literally is creating the global buzz in sports right now.
