With Series Lead, Girardi's Taking Big Risk

Normally, a manager "shortens up his rotation" and starts using his best pitchers on short rest if 1) he is behind in a Series or 2) if he thinks his team is an underdog so he better "overmanage" to compensate. Instead, Girardi announced before Game 3 that CC Sabathia would pitch Game 4 on only three days' rest and that A.J. Burnett might "possibly, yes" start Game 5 -- also on three days' rest. "Possibly," in that context, means "probably."
