Happy Big Mac's Back in Baseball

In many ways, he was the ideal baseball player. He had old-fashioned ideals about teamwork and hustle and being part of a group of diverse people working together for one goal. He was one of those rare professional athletes who appreciated almost every single day he was privileged to wear the uniform.

That appreciation probably came from the injuries that almost ended his career before it really got started. He lost almost two full seasons to foot injuries and, at one point, got in his car and headed back to Southern California thinking his career was over.
